Bidrage med feedbackThis is the best Sri Lankan restaurant in Adelaide! The service is excellent and the food is really delicious. It definitely brings back memories of our time in Sri Lanka. The Malai Kofta, Dhal, and Kothu were outstanding! And the naan was the best we've ever tasted. We will definitely be returning soon.
This family-owned restaurant is fantastic. We hosted my partner's 70th birthday party there for 25 people and everything was perfect. The meals were served on time and exactly as requested. B can even make beautiful cakes for special occasions, which many people don't know about. Our friends who we have brought to the restaurant want to return again. The prices are reasonable and the food and service are top-notch. Usually, we dine in person, but tonight we are ordering takeout as we're feeling tired. This is our go-to spot when we're craving a delicious meal.
Excellent, delicious, authentic curry at reasonable prices. The wife and husband who own it are lovely as well. My partner and I go at least once a fortnight, highly recommend!
I absolutely love this restaurant! I have been getting takeout from here every Friday night with my family for the past 10 years, and it is by far the best curry I have ever had. Our favorite dishes used to be the saag lamb, chicken curry, and lamb vindaloo. Since becoming vegetarian, I have discovered that all of their vegetarian options are incredibly delicious. I believe the husband is the chef and his wife, who is an absolute legend, manages the front of house. The restaurant is quite small, so I suggest making a reservation or ordering takeout over the phone. Even if there is no menu, just give them a call and ask for recommendations. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. I cannot sing the praises of this place enough.
Room for improvement ... We didn’t book for B U, or pre order – on line menu was not accessible. It’s a small shop front, with about 30 seats. Our table was quite small, and I found the large plates used were cumbersome. The food was quite delicious, rice perfectly cooked and a spicy lamb curry. <br/ Now for the negatives ....<br/ <br/ We said when we arrived that we were happy to order whatever the cook had ready to go. The waiter said nothing was ready “ as we only cook fresh..” I found this hard to believe, simply not possible with “slow cooked” foods, so I asked how long it would take for some rice ? to which the waiter responded “ ..about one minute..” OK I said, then we will have some rice, what’s next ? She said that a “lamb” curry would be quickest, about 15 minutes – in fact it was much quicker, and very tasty. However, we didn’t order anything else, as we were not interested in waiting for something which – ironically would be cooked too quickly !<br/ <br/ Further annoyance was that we were provided with knife and fork but no spoon to eat rice and curry !! . I had to ask for a spoon ..I asked if I could use my own rain water which I had brought, she replied there was a pretty substantial “corkage” ? $8.00 and beer was about $7.00. We had a single beer then asked for the House water. The drinking water she offered was undrinkable compared to my rain water tasting like a swimming pool. We were glad to leave in the end, and finished our eating at Coles on the way home.<br/ <br/ What we really wanted – and naively expected was an introduction to this restaurant, and the management could do that with a “special” : rice with a selection of curries, ready to go, for a bargain price I’d pay $20/person for that . For many customers, this would remove the uncertainty of ordering unfamiliar dishes, and would speed up serving considerably. There is nothing wrong with having basic items veg curry, rice, dahl, etc ready to serve : “fresh cooked rice” is a crazy idea, same goes especially for meat dishes, which would never be cooked “a la carte” in Sri Lanka which I have never visited! I am a “slow cook” myself, so I know how long to spend on these dishes. <br/ <br/ Among other things, the “ a la carte” service seemed to make the waiter’s job much harder, and she appeared irritated and stressed.<br/ <br/ I hope this restaurant can provide an easy, quick menu for the customers who don’t have all night and a large budget to spend there. As it was, we didn’t spend our budget, so the restaurant lost that custom. I am somewhat disappointed that I didn’t get to appreciate more of the offerings this place must have somewhere. <br/ I have to say, the place had several other tables who appeared quite happy with the service. Not everybody in Adelaide is as critical as me.
