El Sombrero Mexican - Walla Walla

Stunning venue with amazing food and friendly staff! It feels very clean and up scale but the prices are fair! We love this place!!

Ok, don't do what I did and forget that Cinco de Mayo tends to be crowded at a family Mexican cuisine restaurant and just show hungry and unprepared. But, thankfully the staff apparently took pity on my tears and seated us immediately. The service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere is colorful and fun. I found the food above average and portioned to require a box for the leftovers. We'll done El Sombrero, I look forward to another visit down the road.

Below average. Chips and salsa were mediocre. Ordered chicken enchiladas. They were swimming in sauce of some kind. Very watery. Flavor was meh. Wife Ordered shrimp al Diablo. Was very watery, and she said it was OK. She orders this everywhere we go. Service and decor were good. Lots of tv's for football. But for dinner I'd go somewhere else.

After rolling into Walla Walla ... (4 hour road trip) we needed food. Mexican sounded good, and this one was right across the street from our hotel. The patio seating on a warm summer's day was perfect. Hot, crisp tortilla chips were served right away with two kinds of salsa. (good and better). I had the tostada/enchilada combination. The husband had 2 enchiladas. We were both happy with the portion size, the temperature of the food, and most importantly, the flavorful food. Service was prompt and accurate. We walked away happy customers with no complaints to lodge. Next time, I'd add guacamole and/or sour cream to my enchilada....

Time for an update! I guess I keep coming back because it's convenient (on the way out of town) and they have a patio (to escape Covid even for us vaxed people who really don't want a Delta breakthrough). So, the last two times here, I have really enjoyed my food! Today I ate the burrito express from the lunch menu. It had guacamole, so I was happy. Of course, their cabbage salsa is yummy with a nice spicy little kick. I also love the remodel (even if it happened several years ago)... it is a lovely building and has a nice big parking lot.
