Bidrage med feedbackCelebrating tonight and decided to try takeout. I just discovered this place recently. I am not sure why I didn’t notice this place 3 years ago? The Miso soup was so good not like the rest it was so good. The sushi rolls were decent the pickled vegetable, plum beefsteak leaf, Rockland Roll, and ginger was super fresh. We went back for the Kyoto Sizzling steak and the teriyaki sauce was not too sweet it was good with the rice and veggies. I would recommend this place.
We ordered take out the other night and I can’t stop thinking about it! Honestly the best sushi and Japanese food I’ve had and that’s coming from someone who ate Japanese food regularly for several years in the Financial District, NYC, where we had several great options. Bar none the best miso soup ever. Even my husband, who usually thumbs his nose at miso soup loved it. The soba was just full of umami. Sushi rolls that I haven’t had before and will absolutely come back for. The service was so kind and friendly too. The decor was so warm and inviting we are totally planning to eat in next time. Our new favorite for sure!
Two days ago was the first time we visited this good restaurant. But It is surely not the last time. We had a good time with the good service, with the superb cooking and booze and with the honest charge. We will no doubt visit there in a short time.
I 'm a big aficionado of authentic Asian food, having been an expat in China. Most 'Japanese ' restaurants that I encounter are usually a tremendous let down with their Americanized, homogeneous, inauthentic, and boring menus. I went to Koto with a friend who was a long time regular when he lived in the area, and wow I was impressed. We ordered more than we could eat and were not disappointed. Hidden near the back of the menu is something worded like 'authentic Japanese appetizers '. The hostess asked if I 'd be ok with some of the textures, ordering things like natto or cold pureed sweet potato. The last thing I wanted was another unimaginative grilled teriyaki chicken breast, bland house salad with watery ginger dressing, and a super mega crunchy spicy mayo cream cheese deep fried special roll.We had home made shumai, steamed, that were wonderfully flavorful; a tofu and vegetable soup in a subtle seaweed broth, natto (fermented beans) in maki, another maki that my friend ate before I could try, tuna sashimi in a sweet potato puree, a tempura plate that was such a welcome break from the oily, overcooked, and probably frozen tempura that many lame restaurants serve, kitsune udon that was sweet and just a little savory, and red bean paste.Yes, compared to the sort of Japanese cuisine you might find in Manhattan or Los Angeles it isn 't ground breaking; but an authentic menu done right with heart and effort put into it was just awesome after small town upstate half-hearted discount 'sushi ' restaurants.Service was prompt and efficient too.Definitely would recommend if you 're in the area.
