Bidrage med feedbackUnderwhelming food , served so cold it had to be returned to the kitchen by an equally cold and inattentive team at truly greedy prices. This restaurant’s place in the Michelin guide should be re evaluated. I strongly recommend you avoid this disappointing and extortionate experience during your holiday in Cervinia.
We booked a table at Chandelle based on the reviews at 19:30. We ordered a starter each, I ordered ravioli and my husband had veal. We started with an amuse bouche which was a meatball with mayonnaise which was ok. My starter of scallops were over cooked but ok. My husbands beef tartar was not seasoned nor had much flavour none of the usual capers, raw onion, egg yolk… just plain beef. My main was also ok, the pasta a little too al dente and not piping hot. My husbands veal was nicely cooked but came with little else… just some sauce, a piece of carrot and a small cooked bell pepper. We were served all of this in rapid succession so by 20:00 we were finished. It then took us 15 minutes to catch anyone to ask for the bill. The bill, which also had 2 glasses of wine and a cover charge came in at €165 euros. Pretty steep and not worth it in my opinion.
No value for money, not so tasty.. very disappointing.. : Beef dishes especially were disappointed. Pretty long waiting for the dishes. We noticed the waitress that one of the dishes wasn’t good, but the response was insulted.
We had a lovely meal here however the experience was deeply marred by the unprofessional approach to pricing. As part of the meal we ordered a truffle dish (speciality of the day) which was priced per gram, however when it was served we were not consulted on the grams provided which left us with a HUGE bill (over 100euros just for the truffle). Our waiter made no mention of the amount of truffle used in the dish, nor gave me the opportunity to tell them how much I would like. For a Michelin restaurant at a Relais Chateaux property, I expected much more professionalism. Instead the experience was akin to being scammed into paying $100 for new windscreen wipers. We paid and left, feeling very mislead and taken advantage of as tourists at a fine dining restaurant.
Had dinner with our family at the restaurant in the Hotel Hermitage. It was a short walk from central Cervinia. The interior of wood and linen tablecloths was elegant. We started with cocktails and the garnishes were perfect. Each of the dishes had complementary sauces and seasonings with a wide variety of selections. Definitely a good choice for a special occasion.
