Beware there are a few steps and because of its small size you wouldn't be able to get in with large pieces of luggage.
We had good pizza there. The service was also good. A positive sign was that the other evenings we tried to go it was full. It means that place is well known and appreciated by the locals. My advise, make a reservation before going.
The lunch menu is a lot of food for a cheap price. Although, the food was not tasty and the pasta did not look fresh.
Small place always full of people, reservation is almost mandatory. Very simple and tasty cuisine with peculiar recipes of the area southbound of Naples. Excellent napolitan pizzas with wide choice of versions cooked in the oven with and without pan in the pan with oil is the oldest neapolitan style
When you climb the three steps at the entrance of the Macheré you feel like in another world and in another time. The vivid colors of the room remember me the colors of a little fishing village of South Italy. On the walls there are old advertising boards that give you the impression of being in another time and lots of blackboards where the owners write the menu , and some mottos from the Cilento the district from where he came from. The restaurant is run by two brothers and their mother, who are very kind and friendly. When I’m there I feel at home too and I feel at ease even when I take lunch by myself. The best experience however is to take lunch with 2 or 3 friends because they serve also a good wine and some delightful distillates between whom: annurca apple and bergamot. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the restaurant is very quiet so you can rest a while during your lunch break. The courses are delightful, made by fresh products that came from the Cilento and they very good because they are seasoned with traditional Italian spices like rosemary, chili pepper and garlic. They make also wonderful cakes, most of them are very fluffy but the “sbrisolona” cake is very crisp.
