Albergo Castello - Tignale

The visit at Ristorante Castello started promissing; we had the reserved table with view over the Lake Garda at the terrace. The food was above average, the wine list less than impressive. After two courses we were asked if we wanted dessert or coffee and I said that we wanted to wait a little, since we still had 1/3 bottle of wine left. That was the last we ever say of the wairess! She took plates from two other tables and I expected her to come to our tables afterwards, but she never came back and as the other guests finished their meals we were completely alone on the terrace... Tired of waiting I went to the bar on the first floor asking for the bill. The owner used a calculator to sum up the bill to 65€ which I paid (with absolutely no intention of giving a tip... , We did not get any recipt, so probably the italian tax authorities did not get their share... Outside the restaurant I started wondering about the price and reconstructed the bill: it turned out that the owner had miscalculated the bill so it was 10 € to high! I do hope that it was not on purpose..... I can however find other restaturants to go to instead.

We went here with our 3 children. The food was always very tasty . Fresh ingredients are used. There is a small terrace with a nice view on the lake (only for 2 tables).

We dined on the upstairs terrace which did have a great view of the lake, however this was the only highlight of the evening. The service was slow and we waited for one hour for food to arrive. The food itself was nothing special, neither in presentation nor taste.

Wonderful small hotel, perfectly clean, fabulous location but the best is the amazing service and friendliness we received from the family who run this hotel. Professional, discreet yet still managing to make you feel at home. The hotel has undergone extensive renovation, beautifully done. There is a small spa (all included in the price! which we used and was perfect. There is private parking and located centrally in Gardola. The food, wow! Unbelievably good, all freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. The booking process via their webpage was very efficient too. So book and go... You will not be disappointed. Great place for a date. Very nice location, beautiful view on lake and mountains. Tasty breakfast and really, really tasty dinners. Every day different Italian specials from menu. Very nice and talktish personel.
