Bidrage med feedbackWe turned up having thought we had booked a table but we hadn’t, they were very accommodating for a high chair and very attentive especially with our elderly gran. The cheesy garlic bread and brownie were the nicest we’ve ever had, definitely recommend! My only suggestion is more of a lunch menu with things like toasties, jacket potatoes etc. really great pub with lovely food and service.
Booked New Year meal. There was no mention of having to confirm the booking a second time, but because we missed a call from an unknown mobile number, with no message left, they gave our table to someone else. It felt like they were most happy to turn us away when we turned up leaving us without anything. Terrible service. Needs new management. Someone who cares. However, we were welcomed by the Pig and Whistle just 10 minutes down the road. The food and service was brilliant. My advice? Go to The Pig and Whistle, avoid The Court Farm at all costs.
I used to live in Abbotskerswell between 1970 and 1985, and still remember this place before it was a pub, an abandoned farmhouse where me and mates used to go and play. In about 1972 Heavitree converted it into an excellent pub full of warm character, I even worked there sometimes. It remained unchanged for decades. Went there today and was totally heartbroken seeing the bland greyness that it is now, shattered memories...disgraceful.
Beautiful building both inside and out and a warm and friendly reception from the staff. Two of us had the special which was Sea Bass in a Prawn and Scallop Chowder and I can honestly say it was one of the best fish dishes I have had, rich and creamy, subtle fish flavours and just a shame I couldn’t lick the plate clean after. Also the range of vegetable’s available was superb, again cooked to perfection. Can’t wait to go again when we are down in that area visiting family.
Despite living fairly near I had never heard of this place before I did a google search for places to eat. Am so glad I did because the service, hospitality and food were all faultless. Beautiful looking building with a huge car park. Have since read some reviews slating the 'older ' members of staff, well I can only say they were charming and witty and faultless hosts. I shall definitely be returning to this place and would highly recommend it to others.
