We enjoyed a very nice evening meal here last week. They have an excellent 'specials ' board which included a 'fish of the day '. In fact, my husband opted for the Hake. I chose the gammon steak. Great service, served with a friendly smile. Attentive, efficient staff. A talented chef too, as the food was perfectly cooked, tasty, and well presented. We 've been in here before and they are consistently good. The desserts were mouthwatering delicious. I particularly enjoyed the tiramisu cheesecake ... Wow! It was sublime. They have good local ales. I 'd advise booking in the bar areas as for me, it 's nicer than the main dining area. It feels cosier and more intimate. Horses for courses though. Well priced. Next time, I may try one of their award winning pies. Rooms: Didn 't use, so not rated. Food drinks: Excellent. Highly recommended. You can 't go wrong at the Anchor in my view. Noteworthy details: Cosy bar areas by fireplace.

We went for a family Sunday lunch. The food was well cooked and the roast beef was excellent. Good service and friendly staff. All in all a great pub restaurant to call for a meal.
