Honetsukidori Ikkaku Takamatsu

Waited for an hour. but it would say it was good. Order the wakadori (Junge Choke now) and oyadori (parents/old chicken) as I had to wait so long. Both were strongly spiced and went really well with the rice balls. Wakadori was very juicy and fleshy, with crispy skin. The spices really fall out with the Wakadori. Oyadori was my favorite chewing (Think gizzard-y texture) and the meat itself was very tasteful (very chicken-y). So the prominent taste with the Oyadori was the chicken taste itself. The skin was crispy (also chewing), but again, as I said, very tasteful. Go for the Oyadori if you don't mind chewing food. But look around, maybe 65% of customers ordered wakadori the most likely because it is easy to chew. Order both and find your favorites, but if you are an average person, two might be a bit too much.

Wow, that must be the best tasting chicken I've ever eaten! Normally I can't eat chicken skin, but this has been fried so crispy and has a large salt and pepper with a little spicy taste. Trash is everything you can eat and I recommend dipping the rice balls into the oil.

The best chicken I have ever eaten in Japan so far. Very affordable too.

Arrive early to get in or else be prepared to wait in line as this establishment can get busy due to being featured on a popular television episode. Once inside, the rather modern interior is open and airy due to the high ceilings. Menu selection seems limited but the focus is on the grilled chicken basted in it 's own fat. Another must try menu item is the oyadori which is a more mature chicken for those who love a chewier texture. Rice balls are recommended by the service staff to sop up the chicken drippings/oil which is extremely flavorful in it 's own right. Service is quick and attentive making this a destination of choice when visiting Takamatsu.

Reached at 5:30pm...need to wait till 6:20pm. Once you seat down, they will expect you order straight away. The service is good, ordered chicken ham, rice and the chicken... Everything is good except the chicken is a bit too salty... The chicken breast ham is tasty, so as the rice. If the chicken is not so salty is perfect... Do go earlier, after finished at 7pm we see more customer come....
