During a weekend getaway to Quebec City, my wife and I dined at La Bete based on a recommendation from our hotel concierge. It turned out to be a great choice.
My husband and I came to this restaurant to celebrate our 35th anniversary, and we are so glad we did.
Very nice dinner with pleasant service, definitely would recommend. Freshly made pastas, quality meats.
The weather was nice ans we decided to go to a new restaurant with outdoor seating. We chose Barolo because we wanted good pastas. Even if the decor was trendy and well done, both of us have been disappointed with the overall experience. The service was inexperienced and slow, even if smiling, the staff didn't realized we were ready to order, brought our food to another table, were too familiar, etc. The plate on the table that contains the napkin was not clean, though it was meant to get our bread eventually. No olive oil for the bread, this is something you would expect in a restaurant of that price. The price....even if the pastas were good, we felt it was too much expensive. I had gnoccis, but if fact it should have been named ´revisited' gnoccis because it seemed more like a potato croquette than gnoccis. I would not have ordered this if I had known I would get croquettes.I will not return to Barolo, will drive somewhere else in town to get good Italian pastas. That's too bad!
