Bidrage med feedbackWe were seeking ready-to-heat food for our rental place and found the oldest restaurant in St. John's to be the ideal choice. We decided on shepherd's pie, chili, and meat turnovers, enjoying generous servings that provided 2-3 meals. While we prefer spicier dishes, the home-cooked meal was a welcome change after weeks of eating on the go. The prices were very reasonable.
According to reviews, food can be ordered in the back and then packed to go. The service was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the meatloaf dinner, which came in a large portion with a variety of potatoes and vegetables. The food was delicious, although it was suggested to add salt and pepper to the boiled vegetables for more flavor. There are also two tables available for dining in if desired.
This restaurant is a fantastic spot to enjoy delicious, no-frills meals that you can take away with you or back to your hotel. It offers the type of simple, satisfying food that you often crave when traveling.
Ate here almost every day during our trip to St. John's. Had the best, affordable and delicious homemade meals with great portions. Lunch for 2 with drinks and a dessert for under $25. You can't beat that! This is a popular place to eat among the...locals. We need to know the staff and they have welcomed us and made us feel part of their community. This is a must if you ever find yourself in or near St. John's.
Found this spot while I was on a lunch break during the summer. Really enjoyed the variety of food as you can get everything from freshly made subs to goulash. The staff was extremely friendly and it is evident the owner takes his business seriously...as he can often be seen making time for his customers and staff. I would highly recommend that anyone who works DT give Caines’s a try as you won’t be sorry!
