Bidrage med feedbackI just ate the Best best meal from Captain D's Restaurant. They have changed their menu and Oh My!! The Sampler Plater with two pieces of tender fish, two pieces of crispy chicken, and five butterfly shrimp. Complete with hush puppies, corn on the cob, and perfectly cooked broccoli. To top it off I had fried Green Tomatoes in corn meal batter. Finally, an ice cold Southern Sweet Tea. Karen the General Manager is at the helm and runs a great operation on Stateline Road. My finest complements.
Just left the Southaven, Mississippi located on Main St. I am disappointed in the quality of the food. Y?all have taken the prices up on the food but took the quantity away. Today I purchased (Four) 4pc Dinners with Loaded Baked Potatoes and Mac Cheese. The fish is not fried like it use to be. It usually be crispy. The Mac Cheese taste terrible and they literally gave us 8-10 noodles with watery cheese sauce with no type of flavor. I noticed y?all don?t give the same amount no more. Last month I ordered a 4pc dinner but with green beans and it was literally like 8-10 short cut green beans with a lot of juice. If you are cutting back on the quantity of food then you need to cut back on the prices. No other restaurant in this area has cut back on the food quantity only you all. Y?all need to do something about that because this isn?t going to work. Sooner or later everyone is going to be questioning the quantity of food we received.
First and foremost, they have a B rating from the health department. There were a whopping TWO people running this entire store. The person at the register looked barely a day over 15.. As a general rule, I try not to go to a restaurant an hour before closing and prefer to go inside so I'm not burning up my gas. 1. It's rude to show up right before close and 2. The store is prepping to shut down. As such, you will get what is left on hand which is normally the bottom of the barrel. As a restaurant manager, it takes a couple of hours to shut down a store, even longer if you're working with a skeleton crew like this store was. I've ALWAYS loved Captain D's but this time the food was burned. This rarely happens but given this time of the year, I don't always have time to cook at home. All in all, the food was ok and we only came to this restaurant because the Horn lake one left us waiting at the menu in the drive through line for HALF AN HOUR not once but TWICE with no response. As we were driving off, we saw the one employee standing around chatting with someone inside... So this restaurant gets an extra star because the alternative has been as garbage as Horn Lake is. Absolutely would NOT recommend going to the Horn Lake Captain D's.
I expected my okra and hush puppies to be done they both were under cooked. The cashier was not very friendly almost like she was bothered by waiting on me. More focused on Drive-Thru
So, this Captain D's didn't have butter either. Is it that hard to get butter from suppliers? ? Every grocery store I frequent has butter on the shelves. BUT anyways, the food was fantastic. I skipped the baked potato, and went for a double order of green beans, okra, and the catfish. It did not disappoint. The fish was hot, ND fresh. Not double battered..., lightly coated and seasoned well. The green beans were perfectly seasoned, not over salted. ? And I also tried the funnel cake sticks. What a sweet, light treat to share with the family!! I gave the 4 stars only because of the lack of butter. Hopefully the next Captain D's is stop at while visiting down south will have butter.
