South Sands Hotel Restaurant

The food and service at this restaurant are excellent. The view is breathtaking. While it may be pricey, you are paying for the prime location.

The food was absolutely fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating.

The roast of the day was phenomenal, but unfortunately, the half chicken with thyme was dry and lacking in flavor. Additionally, the fondant potato was dry and not prepared in the traditional fondant style.

Great service and friendly staff. They fit us in quite late and the day thoughtfully offered us a table with a little more space than the one that was booked without being asked. The food was delicious and portions generous. Mama said it's the best fish cake she ever had. We're coming back!

Fabulous food but service was poor to abject. It was clear that not enough staff were on shift to cope with the amount of guests, and I can see people orientating away from South Sands to the Harbour Inn across the road if service does not improve (not only in terms of staff available but attentiveness). Missing out on revenue/sales opportunities as no interaction with guests. As a previous guest and long-term visitor to the hotel, I was extremely disappointed and somewhat surprised.
