We enjoyed the spring rolls. The tuna was outstandingly good. The lamb was also excellent. I would certainly go again if in the area.
We stopped here for a late lunch after hiking in the nearby park. You have to drive through a trailer park to find it, but it sits right on the bay, with a beautiful view of the water. A pretty casual place, with seating inside and out. Emphasis seems to be on natural ingredients (local greens for salad) and healthy choices. We enjoyed a chicken wrap and a salad and wished we could come back for dinner.
Our friends who live nearby insisted to try this place. Do not be discouraged by the drive through the trailer park and basic interior of the restaurant. Service was very friendly. The menu on a piece of paper provided 3 mains. The food was very well prepared and very tasty. We couldn't believe how good it was based on its location and surroundings. The chef prepares a very high quality meal. We recommend bringing a bottle of wine since their selection is limited (for a corkage fee) but other than that it is well worth the effort on trying this place.
A group of us were out for a hike in Sooke and decided to check out the Smokin Tuna based on a recommendation from one of the locals. Like he said, don't let the location deter you from trying it out. The Smokin Tuna is a lovely quaint restaurant you access by driving slowly through a trailer park/marina.It's a small and cozy spot right next to the water and while you sit outside you can watch a couple of seals swimming around looking for some food (e.g fish scraps) thrown out by some of the fishermen. We tried a number of their offerings including the salmon spring rolls which I have to admit I wasn't keen on but were delicious. I had a chicken bacon panini and it was very tasty with pieces of actual chicken meat (not pressed chicken) and bacon. Other members of the group had wraps that were yummy and all of our sandwiches were good sized portions. I had a lemonade that was also perfect in terms of the tartness and sweetness but what put everything over the top was the ice cream sandwiches. They are amazing! I had the strawberry one with lime sugar cookies and our companions went for the salted caramel one and we all can't stop raving about how good they were. I would love to visit again!
Glad I had read not to be put off by entrance to trailer park. Funky little joint, beautiful view, cool and different selections for food. Dessert is worth the trip. Go there.
