The Independent Bar Restaurant

Classic Union Sqr gastropub. Our party of 4 was there for brunch on a crowded Saturday. Dishes were very good to excellent, as were **** Mary's. Service was understandably a bit harried. Place can get loud so may not be ideal for a business meeting or romantic tete a tete.

One amazing breakfast. The staff was dinner if the most flavorful and tender I've ever had... 3 years later I looked at that and maybe I have one more beer than I thought. But, that was still the most flavorful and tender steak I've ever had.

Nice atmosphere and a great drink menu. The oysters were disappointing, but you can’t expect too much from $1 oysters. Steak frites was cooked well and they have great red wines to go with it.

Restaurant has been around for a long time, but the food is status quo. We had a couple cocktails, which were average, and dinner was also just average. It would’ve been nice to start with a bread basket as we came hungry, but they don’t do that. In fact, they don’t really even have any for purchase. The restaurant was rather empty on a cold winters evening. Service was good. I think with all the exciting restaurants in this area, this is not a place I would recommend, unless you really want standard American burger fries fare.
