Pepe Senija

Found just down a side street off the main road through Senija, near Benissa, this restaurant has a shopfront-type entrance into a large, spacious, old-style Spanish restaurant, with terrace to the rear. We chose from the Menú del Día at 10€ per person, including wine, bread and alioli. We had house white wine, which was a bottle of Los Molinos Verdejo between two. To start I had fresh Gazpacho Andaluz, which was so fresh I could hear it being whizzed up in the kitchen; it was delicious! My husband had pelota, a large, braised, cabbage-wrapped meatball, which he enjoyed very much. For our main we chose liver and onion. A large plate of liver, onion and bacon was brought to the table, along with a plate of alioli-topped boiled potatoes. The liver was beautifully cooked and the seasoning of oregano, thyme, rosemary and pimienta roja (I asked! was perfect. There was more than enough for four people but it was so tasty we polished most of it off between two... Chocolate cake and fresh melon finished the meal. Some might find it a bit too rustic, but it is Spain as I remember it from years ago and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The lady who served us was friendly and charming. We will definitely be back.

This really is a hidden gem of a restaurant, we sprang a table of 14 on them with an hours notice and the food and service was simply wonderful, we will be back. Everything on the menu is superb and the home cooked chips are great. The liver lived up to expectations.

Had a great meal for 10 euros, bread and the best ali oli we have had. Then a choice of about 6 starters and main dishes, I had the vegetable soup, which was also the best I've had. The main I had 3 pork loins which comes with onion and mushrooms then it was homemade chips or potatoes with ali oli on. Then coffee or desert included in the price is 1/2 bottle of wine each. As we left we were given 4 homecakes to take home.

Trato excelente, buenas paellas, típicas y tradicionales pelotas de puchero. Siempre repito. Volveré

Un lloc agrados , confortable i molt tranquil per a poder saboretjat tota clase de menjars amb molt de sabor , textures i colors al estil casolà i del terreny ... Molt ben atés i amb la dimpatia que fa que tot siga bo ... Enhorabona als propietaris .
