Bidrage med feedbackThis restaurant was recommended to us by a close friend about a year back, and we have been going every couple weeks for our date night or with friends, since we live in San Jose. Each time we go, we try to have something different, so we have been able to try nearly every dish on both the Thai and Belgian menus. We've always been thrilled with the depth of the flavors and portions. If you are looking for authentic, mouth watering Thai dishes this gem of a restaurant is a must try. The first time we went we had the pho as an appetizer, the broth was so light, with lemon and ginger. All of the curries are in a light savory broth over Thai rice. In a recent visit we were thrilled when there were new additions to the menu, a Thai tuna salad with a spicy dressing and gently seared tuna, it's so addictive. We also love Joris' Pad Thai. It is served traditionally, and it is the best pad Thai I've ever had. We usually start off our meals with a drink called a gin and herby (with basil and rosemary), which perfectly starts the taste parade that follows during the meal. The Belgian menu is equally delicious with rich stews and yummy lasagnes. We normally order appies and main so we rarely have room for dessert, however the last time we went with a group of friends we shared a decadent chocolate lava cake with ice cream. The owner Joris is very friendly and his passion for food is evident in each and every plate. As locals with over 20 years in San Jose, this is hands down our favorite restaurant.
Muy buena opcion en Cabo para cenar, el lugar es pequeño en una terraza no elegante, pero si te dejas guiar por el Chef y Dueño la expericnia es muy buena
We found out about this wonderful restaurant when we attended the Saturday Organic Market in San Jose del Cabo. The chef was handing out menus and telling passers-by about the menu choices and his background. The restaurant is a little difficult to find; it is hidden in the back of a strip mall. We are so glad that we continued to hunt for the restaurant. The first night we went was Thursday Art Walk in the town square, so we were the only customers. The red curry was very flavorful and had just enough heat for my husband. I chose the vegetarian lasagna, and it was the best I've ever had. A wonderful cream sauce was between the layers of pasta and vegetables, not the traditional cheeses. The sauce made the lasagna light and full of flavor. The second evening we went I had the fish of the day and my husband had the steak. Again, both dishes were marvelous. A large party came to the restaurant right after we arrived, and the chef took lots of time with them explainiing the menu and getting their drink orders. The chef is very personable and takes his time with each customer. The restaurant is small, and has outside seating under a canopy. The furniture is eclectic; perfect for the European atmosphere--in Mexico. We recommend Bistro d' Anvers very highly.
We have been several times and cuisine is divine, always fresh. My husband had a steak, our friend that accompanied us had lamb, and I had Pad Thai, we are still raving about how delicious our meals were. Service is excellent with plenty of room to dine either on their patio or inside. This is a must go to with plenty of parking in the plaza.
We met Joris, the chef, at the Saturday Organic Market. His love of cooking and enthusiasm is expressed in his food and presentation. His creations are varied and very creative. Would definitely recommend this little gem! So happy we found you - we will be back!
