We visited Poggio Alloro in 2015 on a family holiday and absolutely loved it. Being back in the area we could not miss the opportunity to revisit. It was with a little trepidation we sat down for the meal in case it did not live up to our memory, but we need not have worried. The meal was superb. The service was quick but not rushed and each course was delicious. The meal was accompanied by their own excellent wines. I cannot recommend Poggio Alloro enough, if you’re in this area of Tuscany ensure that you book early.
We stayed in this farm at the beginning of the summer 2021 staying for three nights. the place is lovely and surrounded by greenery, all the external property of the farm is very clean and the green cared for with a lot of attention. a great location with a beautiful view of San Gimignano, to enjoy above all from the pool kept very well. As already widely described by all reviews, I will not dilute on the catering service that is the strong point of the whole bay, the products are certainly of quality, meals are abundant with the season courses and the wine of their production is no less, I can only confirm the maximum votes for the tried dinners. breakfast instead a little undertone, little choice for the buffet and most things are asked to the staff of the room because of the covid epidemic. Unfortunately, judgment cannot be truthful given the limits. a special mention goes to all staff, from waiters to staff in the kitchen, from receptionists to cleaning staff including workers in the stables and the property that are always available and ready to help and exchange two words (notable for many also knowledge of languages), a pleasure that delights enormously the holiday. we took a room with a double bedroom and a living room with kitchenette and a sofa bed, the room was clean but a little old, little cured, discordant from the rest of the structure that was instead well maintained. the only observations I can make and that in the room, the living room needs curtains or closures to the French door because in summer at 5:00 in the morning it is already full of light and there is no way to obscure the room for those sleeping in the sofa bed. another defect in my opinion is to make a fixed menu even for those who stay more nights: the dinners from the point of view of the quantity are very abundant, I can understand who comes only for a dinner but after two consecutive dinners we, despite, sold on the third day (opting for a simple pizza) losing the chance to taste the Florentine. would be more correct for those who sleep in the facility to give the possibility of a choice between courses paying the cost of what they consume instead of the total menu. in my case, there was an asterious person and having noticed that a discount had been promised that then did not happen on the account, probably for a forgetfulness. I take this, but I have a nice memory of everything, if you summarize them in the area I will gladly stop for a pleasant and quality dinner.
Beautiful place, in front of San Gimignano, of which offers a fascinating view even in winter with bad weather. you are greeted in a beautiful room with a huge fireplace on, very nice, so great that you can stay inside. beautiful view of the meat hanging inside dry. the menu is excellent and based on strictly own products: spectacular meats, bruschetta with very good oil, world porcelain cutters, pork arista with verdurina and potatoes in the spectacular oven. to finish, a berries crust made as a god commands (i.e. base of thin art with generous layer of jam). all watered by the legendary vernaccia and a good chianti. good also the grappa, made elsewhere but with their sludge.
