Bidrage med feedbackThis was one of our favorites, but is now just the hotel and a bar that looks good, but eating here was the main reason for going
We visited on Saturday afternoon and stayed there as soon as it opened well because it was full in 15 minutes. the service and eating were excellent. I had the 43 euro meal, which one amuse bouche, 8 cancale oyster, beautiful fish fillet...with vegetables, cheese plate and dessert. everything was prepared imaginatiw. the foiegras and the lamb of my man were just as good. I would make this regular travel destination if I lived close. there was also a good translation menu in 4 languages.
This restaurant is in a very convenient location just by the far side wall of the inner city. I have slightly mixed feelings about the place and the rating reflects the overall experience. Good ambience, location, some waiting staff (took time to explain the...menu, placed cutlery neatly on the table), value for money. Not so good slow service (took 2.5 hours to get through course) although this may have been an exception, some waiting staff (didn't place cutlery on the table properly, names cheeses on board without further comment). The food the seafood platter was excellent. The lobster was small and the cheesy sauce didn't bring out the best of it. Same for the abalone, it came soft with a creamy sauce. The lobster was fished out of a tank and then shown to us in a basket, which might put some people off. The desserts were not exciting. The apple sorbet refresher that came mid way through the course however, was excellent. Overall, perfectly adequate for a pleasant meal, and you get your money's worth for the 55E course (the most expensive one) amuse bouche, starter, refresher, main course, cheese and dessert, but you may be disappointed if you come here expecting refined French cuisine.
This is an excellent restaurant. Menu varies from 15 euros moules Mariniere and cheeseboard to £55 euros full friutes de mere plus starter plus sweet and cheeseboard . The full seafood platter is massive. In fact, if they would let you, one could order the...15 euro menu and the other 55 euro and you could share, there would be enough food. I saw so food being returned. There is also a meat menu. When I was there it was lamb.. This year I had 77 mussels!!! Depending on your language capabilities they can speak English or Franglais I can order food in French! .
This restaurant should really be better known. Do not go there for extravaganza, as brilliantly prepared traditional cuisine is the tag line of the place. Whether starters (try the 'emince de tourteau ', ie crab meat , main courses (ahhh, the lamb, with its variety of fresh...vegetables and frites on the side! , or tasty home made desserts: you 'll get a real treat. They also have a specialty of 'ormeau ' (abalone , but we did not try it, so it is up to you to taste this rarity in France. The wine list is quite affordable, with a not so common choice of old vintages. Bravo!
