La Guingette - Saint-Jean-Pla-de-Corts

Again we had a great time in la guingette. the atmosphere is very beautiful, people are relaxed and friendly and eating is tasteful and very well presented. try it out!

They have called here a few times as the lake is a fantastic overnight place with the camper! a table for their music evening, which is always full, fantastic dining and a live band. great date night!

From our table we could see the lake where they can swim, the wooded mountains and the blue sky. it was a hot day and most other people seemed to be local. we had some hardships to find this place, but it was worth it. gutsy aromen, well presented, large French Catalan local cuisine, the coworkers all work cheerful and heavy, fast service. superb calamari, correct thin chips made of potato, not frozen, but try the boiled vegetable starter, delicious and so easy. then follow a walk through the lake, observe human zip wiring from the trees above the water. amazing landscape.

This little open-air restaurant, open end of May until end of September, is based on the traditional Guingetta ie family get-together with food , music and dancing (dancing just on Sundays The setting is superb, on the edge of the lake overlooking Les Alberes...mountains. The food is reasonable quality and plentiful, based on Catalan cuisine rather than French. Well worth a visit, even if just to watch the locals dancing on the open air dance floor on Sunday afternoons.
