My fiancée and I were through and thought in roanoke for the night. our desk career suggested this place to dinner and we were very excited for some seafood in a casual environment (as we did not try to spend two hours on a formal dinner.) I know that this place is called terrible arthurs, but we did not expect such an experience. we have set ourselves and submitted our order at 9:16. bar was a little busy so drinks took about 20 minutes, which is not crazy. About 45 minutes in, we received our appetizer of 6 garnels. about half an hour later we received our escape. our waitress who had run around and did the best she could explain that she had only one cook when the other went out. She was great and very apologetic and recommended that she would check if she could offer a discount. we have not over one, but were worthy. she came back to let us know that the off-duty manager who drank in the bar didn't want to offer anything. I am a manager in the hospitality and fully understand when dinge pass out of their control. instead of sending the message along, it would have been professional to offer an apology instead of drying their employees. Moreover, they may help their cook instead of overthrow beer and watch their team members flail. never come back here again and recommend our hotel, perhaps not recommend it. to the sweet waitress who tried the best of her, thank you and I hope they know her worth!
The missus and I stopped here after stopping for the night on a road trip. We were seated just after 9pm and the server had our order in (an appetizer and two entrees) by 9:16pm according to the check. There were multiple tables seated after we placed our order and got their food before us. Our appetizer took ~45 mins and the food took another 30 for a total of an hour fifteen to get our order. Our server apologized profusely and tried explaining that they were slammed and only had one person back there. Which I get but some sort of warning or limited menu would be nice. We asked for nothing, we just wanted our food and to go back to the hotel after an eleven hour day on the road, but the server said she was going to try and do something for us. When she brought us our check she informed us that the manager, Dan (sitting at the bar drinking) said she wasn 't authorized to do anything and we were out of luck. Whatever, man, we didn 't ask but a small percentage off or a free drink would have gone a real long way. We suggested to the front office manager of the hotel we 're staying at that they may want to rethink sending road weary travelers there as it 's not at all how we wanted to spend our night. Food was ok. Server was decent. Overall experience was a trash fire.
My fiancé and I were traveling through and stopped in Roanoke for the night. Our front desk clerk suggested this place for dinner and we were very excited for some seafood in a casual setting (as we were not trying to spend two hours on a formal dinner). I know this place is called awful Arthur's but we did not expect such an experience. We got seated and submitted our order at 9:16. Bar was a bit busy so drinks took about 20 minutes, which is not crazy. About 45 minutes in, we received our appetizer of 6 shrimp. About an hour and a half later we received our entrees. Our waitress who was running around and doing the best she could explained they only had one cook as the other walked out. She was great and very apologetic and advised she would check if they could offer any discount. We did not inquire about one but were appreciative. She came back to let us know that Dan, the off duty manager that was drinking at the bar, refused to offer anything. I am a manager in hospitality and completely understand when things happen out of your control. Instead of sending the message along, it would've been professional to offer an apology instead of hanging your employee out to dry. In addition, maybe assisting your cook instead of downing beers and watching your team members flail. Never coming back here again and suggesting our hotel to maybe not recommend them. To the sweet waitress who tried her best, thank you and I hope they know your worth!
