Holiday Inn Express

All-seater stadium well outside the centre of Oxford. The stadium, like Oxford themselves, belongs much higher in the football hierarchy and its sad to see how Oxford have fallen, although they have the best player I've seen this season (and he's only 17) so that bodes well for them. Travelling independently without a car requires a train, a bus and a stroll, but as the stadium is right next to one of those entertainment complexes (not sure of the correct term) you often get outside cities these days, it doesn't feel as isolated as some outside the city football grounds. You can go for a drink, a meal or even enjoy some ten pin bowling before or after the match. Inside the ground the half time options are pretty much standard, although I did enjoy my first cup of Bovril in over a decade!

Unfortunately, this is not the Hilton. Small room, very small mattress for two, instant coffee and a good 15 miles away from Oxford University, which makes you taxi-dependent....if you are looking for 'very simple ' and an out of the way place.... This is it.!!

I'm not reviewing this as a football stadium, but as an event venue. It's probably the biggest place to hold an event in Oxford, which means balls are sometimes held here. Whilst it's nowhere near as prestigious or old worldy as the lovely gothic architecture of many of Oxford's colleges, it's still pretty smart and the rooms are more sophisticated than might be expected from a football stadium. The location leaves something to be desired I imagine it's great if you're at a business conference and want to pop out to a bar, or even have a quick game of bowling, but in terms of getting to a ball, you're limited to a coach, car or taxi. There may well be a bus, but I've not seen one there, and they're unlikely to run at night. This really is a bit inconvenient, as it's nice to be able to leave a ball when you feel like it, without having to wait in heels and a dress for a coach, or pay a small fortune to get a taxi back into Oxford in the middle of the night. All in all, if you can avoid the transport kerfuffle, it's a great venue.

Stayed here with a few friends in April for my 30th. it was perfectly located, just a few minutes from town and right beside the stadium for the football games. check in was good, there were a few small problems like the names being wrong on the rooms but it was fixed really quickly and the staff were very nice. the rooms were very spacious and very comfortable, even having a choice of hard and soft pillows. the bar isn't very comfortable and is more of the restaurant, but that was okay as we didn't spend long in the hotel. all in all was a very enjoyable stay and all the staff we met were fantastic. i will be staying here again.

Went to visit Oxford and found this hotel. We got the end room of the 1st floor so it was quiet. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was very clean and modern. Internet wifi was a bit slow. Breakfast was very good given that it was a continental buffet breakfast (included in room fee) and there were eggs, sausages, fruits, cereal, bread, croissant, juice, milk, etc. Very reasonable price given the facilities and breakfast.
