Bidrage med feedbackCame to socialize with a friend and have a bite to eat. Exactly what a bar atmosphere is good for. However, small talk isn't cheap. We ate cauliflower chicken wings which were delicious but seemed rather small at $9. Upon waiting for our food, we saw other cauliflower chicken wings being served to others and we realized how they should be, much larger in size indeed. Side salad was prices at $8 and didn't seem to meet my friend's expectations. I had a slice of the $2 pizza which was perfect for that price. Overall, the quality of the food is your general bar food, so you can't expect too much. Yet, what you can expect here is maybe a stiffer price on the food unless it's on special perhaps. The dessert looked amazing and wouldn't mind going back to try something on the menu. One of the two bathrooms was strange. With no door knob, you had to pull the door by gripping the deadbolt lock with fingers. Weird.
First time here was during their happy hour midweek. While it was annoying waiting to be served, apparently sitting at the bar didn't help, I at least got a menu to go over, long enough to change my mind three times. This should be a 4-star review if not for the rough start because once I did get my Belgian triple I could relax until the food arrived. Burgers looked great but the sammich (When Pigs Fly) in my pic got the nod although I wished that I ordered something other than the tasty but extremely greasy fries. The pork was tender and the macncheese inside was excellent! I plan to return and hopefully have a better experience. Some of the food options look promising, hopefully the service will be better. At least they have a decent selection of craft beers!
False Advertisement! Don't eat here! The web site clearly states that on Thursdays it's 2 beers for $7 and buy one Entree get one half off. The waitress was rude and refused to honor it. She said she had no idea what I was talking about and that she was tired of people asking her about these specials that don't exist. I pulled up the brew cakes website and showed her. She told me it was old and not current! Then WHY ADVERTISE IT ON YOUR COMPANY WEBSITE!?! I'm a total Redlands girl and live to support local business but WILL NEVER BE BACK! My mom had minor surgery and we stopped on our way home from hospital otherwise I would have walked out! I would have been okay paying full price despite the false advertisement and rude staff if the food was good..... but it was terrible. The black bean burger tasted like cooked vomit. The fries were so mushy... yuck. My mom ordered a habanero dog. She couldn't eat more then 1/3 and her fries were soggy as well! If you want a hot dog go to KLUDDES! If you want a good veggie burger go to the TARTAN! Don't pay $40 w tip for this disgusting rude place that does not honor their website! #getBREWCAKESoutOfRedlands Read my reviews.... I rarely give a poor score!
I 've been twice now (10/1/14 and 2/11/15) and I think my mind is now made up, I probably won 't be going back. The first time we went, my husband and I went for a date night, we had dinner, drinks, and dessert (holiday pumpkin special). The food was alright, my hot sandwich was a bit tough and cold, but overall ok. The beers were good though and the dessert was alright as well. But the service was not welcoming. We were barely waited on and just seemed like a nuisance. But I was hoping that night was an off-night and decided to try again with a girls night out. We went for one of their keep the glass nights. It was pretty dead but we did show up an hour and a half before closing. We had two Angry Orchard Ciders and the Irish Cake Bomb dessert. Again, the drinks were fine and the dessert was ok (the mousse had a really unwelcoming texture though). But again, the service was terrible. It really toed the line with rude. For me, the money I pay for a night out includes food and drinks AND service. This place really wasn 't worth my money.
A little pricey in my opinion but their Steal the Glass every Wednesday and their food is worth it every once in a while. I'd recommend When Pigs Fly, a sandwich with Apple wood smoked pulled pork, Mac n cheese, and BBQ sauce on a brioche bun and their garlic fries for an extra $1. Their garlic fries are just so full of wonderful garlic and their garlic aioli just adds more. I also really liked their mango hard cider mustard that usually comes with their grown up grilled cheese. The people who work there are really nice, too. I preferred my experience there earlier in the day when it was pretty much empty. Later on it gets kind of busy and full of men drinking and watching sports, if you're into that. (I'm not) Looking forward to more STG events and maybe a trivia night as well as more food!
