THIS IS A MUST TRY.You won't regret it. The drive is worth it.If you want the best BBQ in our area, and you won't regret it. The meat is so tender, smoked flavor incredible,and BBQ Sauce is the best I have tasted . In our opinion, 10 plus stars. The sides are awesome and homemade, as are the homemade desserts that are perfect. Thank you for the great food and service. Will definitely be back.

Dragon 's Den, while at times offering some of its original dishes, has actually been bought out/taken over by Big Gilley 's BBQ. Mind you, do not let that fact deter you from paying them a visit and either grabbing your meal, to go, or dine in with them!! If you haven 't tried Big Gilleys BBQ offerings, yet, you have been missing out!! I am from Texarkana, however I lived in Austin for 17years. While there, I def availed myself of plenty of central Texas barbecue......and I do mean BBQ! Legendary, and no not talking Franklin 's...heck, I ate bbq in Franklin 's current post before Franklins ever even existed, daresay, was ever a bbq smoke covered gleam in its owner 's eyes!! I 've dined on BBQ in Lockhart, near Buda, in Taylor, in Bastrop, and I don 't mean just one specific restaurant in each. Whatever was available, I made a point of visiting at least once, and if their offerings proved delish, of course, I became a return customer. The same is going to be true of my first vist to Dragon 's Den AKA Big Gilley 's BBQ. It was late Saturday evening, I was hungry, and tuckered out after having ran an errand out to another city in Arkansas. Even on my way to into Arkansas, I was already debating where I 'd stop and grab some dinner, to go, on my way back home, to Texarkana, Texas. Welp, I nixed the catfish idea.......when Big Gilley 's came to mind! See............normally I would have had to drive to Ashdown, to partake of my choice of bbq 'd meats, but now, it 's closer, not in Texarkana, but at least now there 's one of his eateries, in Genoa, meaning great BBQ is only a hop, skip, and a jump away. For my first visit, I opted to be gluttonous, purchasing not only ribs, but chopped pork, and brisket, too!! Had to insure that I made my visit MORE than worthwhile, and I topped off that order, with sides, including some mac cheese, a 'la Cheyenne 's Macaroni Cheese. I 'd heard good things about that side, and it did NOT dissapoint. Absolutely scrumptious!! As was my BBQ, too!! The brisket 's crust was outtasight!! The taste of it, in how it had built up over period of cooking time, almost....almost brought tears to my eyes!! I 'm a pushoever for that legendary brisket crusts!! The brisket meat itself, was tender, and cooked to perfection. Not to overlook the chopped pork!! It too, was great, and preternaturally tender!! I actually enjoyed spooning some of the mac cheese side into my mouth, alongside of forkfuls of chopped pork!! Oh, and the ribs??? Gosh, the ribs. I make sure I keep handwipes in my truck for practical reasons, but this time around, I couldn 't keep my hands off the ribs, en route back to my home. I ended up having to find a safe spot to pull over/stop, so I could chow down on at least ONE rib, prior to finishing my trib back home. I inhaled the meat from that pork rib, and promptly reached for a second one, and it was only via sheer willpower, that I didn 't grab a 3rd, yep!, 3rd rib,. Lol. I love northeast Texas, and love being from the Texarkana area, but I claim central Texas as my home, too, it 's that close to my heart. Finally making my way for an in person visit to the nearest Big Gilley 's made my heart happy. I 'd actually had the pleasure of eating some of his brisket, via a friend, but had been literally itching to head to Ashdown, so yay me, for making my way to the 2nd location of Big Gilley 's bbq!! Now simply the act of writing about it, as I think back to my visit, two weeks ago, is beginning to make me start to crave some Q! But I gotta ' feed my piggy bank, before I can feed my face and soul, again!! As The Terminator once said, I 'll BE BACK . Meanwhile, as spring arrives, if you 're our an about running errands near Genoa, or in or near Ashdown, don 't let my lack of funds inhibit you!!! If you 've never tried out BIg Gilley�

I love this place the food is excellent. Well worth the drive out there!

A nice venue with tasty menu choices, but highly caloric! It was a chilly night when we went recently and most of us had to keep our jackets on while we ate due to the temperature inside!
