You know it's gonna be good when you're standing in line next to a sweet, retired couple that has been consistently eating here for decades. I'm glad I came here right before it opened because the line gets long quick and you want to be able to sit andenjoy the cute diner experience. George and Cathy are absolutely delightful. I ordered the hot dog with everything (mustard, slaw, onions, and chili). The chili is what makes the dog so yummy. According to the retired couple, it took George years tomaster his grandma's recipe. I also got the pound cake which was nice and moist. So glad this was my first meal during myweekend trip to Raleigh!
This is a historic hidden treasure of downtown Raleigh that makes the most mediocre hotdogs, with limited toppings and bland seasonings. They are lunch only and their hours are rarely accurate and also they are cash only. It?s worth a stop for theexperience (if they are open) but don?t expect a good hot dog.
Adorable old school charm however, this place is super tiny maybe fits 8 people at the counter with 2 small tables. No outdoor seating. Not fancy, just hot dogs, chips drinks, cash only. That said, if you want a quick hot dog sweet people it's wortha trip.
It would be fair to describe these hot dogs as life changing. Eating here isn?t just a culinary experience, but a cultural one as well. Fantastic dog toppings, vintage drink choices, and fun interior.
