Bidrage med feedbackI visit Providence regularly every three or four months. I randomly google and found this place has a very nice review. I ordered potato koroke and chicken ramen. I like the koroke, crunchy and soft inside. Yummy. The ramen, i like the noodle itself perfect texture for me, but the broth itself, hmmmm too ordinary, nothing special. I feel like there something missing in the broth.
I went to japan earlier this year in the spring and one of the things I learned in my time spent was that ramen in the states is often very mediocre even when the reviews are high in comparison. The Japanese take nearly everything very seriously including their cuisine. This place is by far (and it’s not even close) the best ramen I’ve had in the U.S. Generally I prefer pork ramen over chicken but today this chicken ramen was amazing. The quantity of the food for the price is very reasonable let alone for the quality. They give you the toppings on the side allowing for flavor altering of your preference. The pork chashu add on is amazing. For the first time in Providence, regarding any food at least, I am sad I will be back in Texas missing ramen from PVD.
Casual Japanese restaurant that specializes in soba and curry. On our way back from Newport, we were searching for a dog-friendly restaurant to dine at. While driving around the city, we spotted a lone empty table on the sidewalk in front of PVD Noodle Bar. It wasn't a proper patio, and there were smokers nearby, but we decided to take it anyway. Our server was incredibly accommodating and brought a bowl of water for our dog. The lunch menu at PVD Noodle Bar wasn't extensive, but it offered great value compared to similar Japanese restaurants in Boston. Since they seemed to specialize in soba noodles, we decided to try the Zaru Soba and the PVD Curry, along with a couple of appetizers. Both the Ika Ponzu Salad and Agedashi Tofu came in generous portions and were outstanding. The salad, dressed in a tangy Tsuyu sauce with a hint of yuzu, was the perfect palate opener for the entrées. For the soba, our server highly recommended adding shrimp tempura and an onsen egg, which we did. While the soba itself was a solid classic, it lacked a bi of pizzazz in terms of flavor and texture. Thankfully, the shrimp tempura added a nice crunch and made each bite more interesting. The PVD Curry was lighter and less buttery than traditional Japanese curry but still enjoyable, especially with the assortment of fried items that accompanied it. The Chicken Karaage was slightly dry on the inside, but the Potato Korokke was spot on. I'm not too familiar with the Japanese dining scene in Providence, but PVD Noodle Bar seems like a top tier spot for enjoying Japanese classics along with some cocktails. Would consider coming back if I'm ever in the area.
Just wonderful across the board. Ridiculous amount of food for the money, beautiful presentation. Will be back for sure!
While visiting Providence I put this restaurant on the list of places within walking distance of my hotel that I wanted to try. I ordered a Strawberry Seoul and it paired well with my menu selection for dinner, the PVD Chicken Ramen. Dinner was served in a reasonable amount of time, at the proper temperature, and was very well presented with flavor to match. I followed up with ice cream for dessert, and used my server's recommendation for the choice of flavor. The restaurant itself was clean and was everything I expected from a small shop. Overall a nice experience.
