Acropolis - Portland

That wasn't soggy rice it's orzo in a creamy sauce. Orzo is a rice shaped pasta and while it appears to be a thick grained rice it definitely isn't. If you were expecting to experience rice I can see how you would think it was overcooked. If you ordered the spanokopita as part of dinner with a salad, the price is quite fair. Give it another try.

I ordered spanokopita at nearly $15 for the dinner. I expected more than a 3 inch square serving and a side of mushy, bland rice. For desert I ordered baklava, which was very good, put the serving was skimpy. Overall, way over priced (I would say twice the cost) of what it should be.

This was my third visit to Acropolis with my husband and our 15-month-old daughter. The first time we went, it was a fantastic experience with live music and a belly dancer. Although the food was only okay, the atmosphere and energy of the place made it worthwhile. On our second visit, we were a bit rushed and decided to grab some gyros. The service was good, but the gyros were not impressive. Unfortunately, tonight's experience fell short in every aspect. Our glasses of retsina were barely half full, the chicken kabob was overcooked, and when we requested more tzatziki to go with our meal, our server said it couldn't be done. It was quite a disappointment. I might consider trying their new location, but I certainly won’t be returning to the original anytime soon.

The opening night was a complete letdown. We waited two hours for our food, and they had run out of potatoes. The lamb was poorly prepared. While the sampler appetizer was tasty, it was quite small for $15. The prices for the meals were high considering the quality. The menu was limited, primarily featuring lamb, and it didn't feel very authentic to traditional Greek cuisine. The wine was priced at $10 a glass. Overall, it was not worth the money.

I have dined at both locations and found the service and food to be excellent. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were in line with other restaurants in the area. The weekend entertainment was also very enjoyable.
