Sunday luncheon. Wait for a table 45 mins. Wait for waiter to take order 1 hour. Wait for food 58 mins. Meanwhile two baskets of bread (wonderful, moist and fresh) and a bottle of wine later, and the starters arrive. Marvellous prawn omelette plus chips and made with at least 3 eggs. Trouble is when we ordered, about a century ago, we were hungry now we 're stuffed with bread and (a most marvelous) fish pate. After the starters , no not after, just as we 'd started eating, the main course arrives. My entrecote steak has miraculously transformed into half a pig 's ribs and my companion 's pork steak in mushroom and white wine sauce into 8 that is EIGHT large slices of fried pork no sauce. No complaints about the quantity of food on offer, but, for goodness sake, this is not a reasonable dining experience. DO NOT EVER EAT HERE unless of course you haven 't eaten in six weeks and don 't mind another week or so before satisfaction.

Amazing attention to detail. Portuguese delicacies. Amazing quiet environment. We will definitely stop here every time we drive through Elvas.

The vitela grilled steak was delicious very tender. Highly recommend. The chocolate mousse was very good also. We both think this place deserves a higher rating.
