The tempura California rolls are quite possibly the best sushi I've ever had! Everything is reasonably priced, with a great 2-for-1 sushi special. Would recommend!
Been going here for years and we have never had bad food. The sushi is best in town.
Earlier in the week my partner and I decided to go for Chinese cuisine. After searching on the internet we came across Foo Jiu in Walmer and gave it a try. What a good decision it turned out to be. The restaurant was fairly busy. The ambience was great and my partner described it as unique. Not too sure what she meant by that but maybe not the type of decor you came across very often. It was certainly a unique experience. We both had a Castle Lite (R26 each) and my partner had a second. It was quite a choice to make seeing that the menu is very extensive. We went for a crispy pork balls (R78) and a sweet and sour stir-fried chicken (R72). Both dishes were served with fried rice. Let me start off with the crispy pork balls. I had this dish before at another venue but I can honestly say that this was a lot better. It was excellent. It was a decent portion and the chunky onion and greenpeppers were crisp. The sauce was served separately and it was very good, enough to soak the rice into. I was very surprised with the sweet and sour chicken, especially when the menu stated that it was stir-fried. Normally stir-fried refers to julienne style meat and vegetables. It refers to ingredients cut into strips. The chicken was, however, also crumbed and served in balls like the pork. The onions and greenpeppers were exactly the same as with the pork balls. The only difference was that the chicken and vegetables were served on the sweet and sour sauce. Maybe that is how the restaurant serves the dish. My partner really enjoyed the dish but I would have preferred the original stir-fried method, without the crumbs and prepared in a wok. The one dessert that caught our attention was the deep fried ice cream (R48). We decided to try one to share. An absolute must. A special thanks to Bongani. The service was good but not intrusive. We will definitely give it another try.
Good sushi! The springbok Carpaccio Rolls were very Nice! A lot of mayo on a lot off the sushi wasn't really our thing though..
