Knechtel Foods - Port Dover

Couldn't believe when got my bill today. Shared a platter in the restaurant today and enjoyed salads/fruit. Ordered a platter to go for my husband. When I got the two bills I saw an increase of $10 on each platter since my last visit a couple weeks ago. I find the increase disgusting. Never have I seen such an increase at any restaurant. So with tax I paid $80 before tip. I can eat cheaper at a fine dining restaurant with real china etc. Won't be visiting often any longer. deb

We've been to Knechtel's a couple of times and found it quite adequate.There is service through an outside pass-through for people who just want to grab something and keep going. Today, for the first time, we ate inside, and it was also satisfactory. Compared to the prices at the fancy place at the water's edge, the perch platter was better for a much more reasonable price. To be accurate, it should be noted that the décor here is very basic, and things are served on paper plates. The people running the restaurant are very young and none of them thought about tidying up the buffet that comes with the dinner, which led to a disheveled presentation. However, all in all, this was the best alternative we saw in the centre of Port Dover for an un-fussy seated meal.

This was our first visit to Knechtels. Once you realize you sit yourself, (clean or dirty table) the visit becomes better. My wife ordered the fish n chip's (halibut) 2 pcs n fries, I had shrimp in a basket 17-20 shrimp. The halibut melts in your mouth and the shrimp was delicious. Before we left we both ordered ice cream cones and our total was $36.00. The service was good, don't go if you are in a rush. We will definitely be back. Hats off to the servers. They ran their Butts off and did a great job

Hubby and I brought the kids for dinner. Meals were excellent, although we found a bit pricey. We would definitely go back.

My wife and I will not eat fish in any other restaurant then Knectals in Port Dover.Im 64 and have been going there since I was a little guy.Still as good .Yummy
