Bidrage med feedbackVery clean and bright. A bit school canteen looking for me, but the food looked delicious. Great place for big groups, and it's probably nice to sit outside if you have the weather. The bar staff was helpful and professional.
Grumbles is a family restaurant with food served almost cafeteria style. You order your food, you take a number, and they deliver your food to your table! And for what it is on the wharf, it was just what we needed and wanted. My husband and I shared a single meal, and it was absolutely as much as we needed. No fuss, no muss.
Like others have said, I wasn't sure about going here due to the review scores, but after reading a few it looks like the main complaint was the way you order the food and that you have to get your own silverware and drinks. I attempted to prepare my group for the order process ahead of time, because I brought my most picky eaters. We would not have had a problem except for the impatient guy who snuck in behind us and decided he needed to go ahead of us. Dude took longer to order than the four of us did. Anyway, ordering went off without a hitch. Gathering our drinks and silverware was easy and conveniently located, and the food was out to our table quicker than I expected. The fried shrimp was wonderful, the French fries were good, my wife likes her shrimp tacos and I enjoyed her beans and rice. The fried fish was average,. The famous hush puppies were not very good at all. They cleared the table as soon as we were done eating. The best part is the view of the bay from the deck out back.
It was recommended by someone and I felt that it was just ok. Nothing extraordinary and didn't live up to the hype.
Got the fish and chips platter x2 catch of the day, FF and coleslaw fish was mushy, fries were cool, soft and chewy, coleslaw was tasteless. Coke had too much syrup. Sweet tea was the only thing any good. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The place was almost empty, and in fisherman’s wharf I expected it to be so much better. What a disappointment.
