Point Prim Chowder House

The Chowder House at Point Prim has a beautiful view of the water and the lighthouse. The layout of the tables however was haphazard coupled with their new no service policy made it awkward. The food was mediocre with a small portion and more celery than fish. Oysters were small a filled with shell bits served only with horseradish. Overpriced. I guess you are paying for the view.

You can only get takeout without a reservation, but the views are excellent from the picnic tables located next to the restaurant. The chowder and biscuits were very good. After, you can walk on the really cool beach.

Worth the drive even just for take out. The seating area has amazing scenery. Lighthouse is short walk from the restaurant if you want to wait to dine in.

Located on the shoreline next to Prim Point lighthouse. We were a family group of 5 adults 4 children 12 to 7 years. Booked online 1 month ahead which is the soonest allowed. I received a call shortly after booking to see if picnic table area was acceptable for our group of 9. The restaurant texted to make sure we were still coming several days ahead. I confirmed but thought I better check in person on the day we had arranged. I was told by the owner Paul that everything was in order. While visiting sights in the nearby area about 15 minutes later, Paul called to tell me my reservation got cancelled. I wasn't too happy went to see him to discuss it face to face. We were able to work things out. This put a big damper on the experience. Food service were OK. Staff were pleasant. Server knocked over the water glasses when placing them on the picnic table we got a bit wet. She did apologize we were very kind to her. Par for the course that day, I guess. I'm happy that they eventually accommodated my large family group. The kids liked exploring on the water front. They need to improve their booking system. Bottom line, if you're visiting the lighthouse, book ahead try it out. If you're just going to the restaurant, it may be a bit of a gamble.

Well deserving of great reviews, this Chef truly takes pride in his creations/dishes. We had two different choices and both were fresh and delicious. The sauces and broths were the best we've had in a long time, they elevated the seafood to gourmet status without a doubt. Thank you Chef! Wish we lived nearby, we would be regulars. Staff was very nice also.
