Umi Japanese Restaurant - Pittsburgh

Umi is my favorite restaurant in the world. Last night was my 63rd birthday and I reconfirmed my aforementioned opinion.

Umi is the best hidden gem in Pittsburgh. Mr Shu is a genius and his creations match and exceed anything we’ve had in other cities across the country. The people are amazing too!!

One of a kind gem in Pittsburgh. Must visit if you are a fan of highly authentic Japanese food.

Food was SPECTACULAR, service was absolutely excellent, and the venue was lovely until the sun went down. The lighting was low enough that afterwards it was a bit difficult to read the menu, however, and the tables were close enough together that once it started filling up it was a bit noisy, but overall a wonderful experience. 10/10, would go every week if I could afford it

What an incredible evening we had at Umi. We highly recommend the 11-course omakase. Mr. Shu creates the most perfect bites, and the staff is so warm and welcoming. Our server Ashley was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the fish and ingredients. Really wonderful, beautiful experience. We left feeling so grateful…
