The Hop House - Pittsburgh

I just moved to the area and put in an order for pick up. It was supposed to be ready at 6:25, I got there at 6:20 and even though I am 6'3 and I was standing right at the bar no one working there would even look at me for 15 minutes. I eventually just sat and patiently waited and finally around 6:50 someone threw a bag of food at me. Wish I would have read reviews prior to ordering...I thought about just walking out, figuring losing $25 dollars was not worth the aggravation and smell associated with the place. Needlessly to say, I was super disappointed, it looked like such a cool place...

The food was pretty good, but the beer was warm and tasted kind of dirty. It took a while to get our food and drinks, but there was only one waitress to do everything. The waitress was super sweet, and was doing her best despite being the only waitress helping and her second day as a waitress.

Awesome food any and all drinks available but half of the staff seems to be on drugs and the inside smells like one giant ashtray

Don't eat here or drink here unless you're ok being sick. The bartender was nice but in the time I sat there I saw several MAJOR health code violations. No one in the kitchen is wearing gloves or washing hands. The kitchen staff is talking on their cell phones while making your food while eating over the food they are making for you. The beer lines are not cold enough and they cleanly have not been cleaned. My beer was warm had a ton of head and tastes like the last beer that was in the line, something with lime. Hop House please pull it together! I really want to like you! It's a cool bar with a nice deck, the saff is normally pretty good, and their food is dam good I could just do without the side of ecoli or salmonella.

I used to go here often when smoking was standard in all bars/restaurants around Pittsburgh. I stopped going when they refused to become non smoking about 10 years ago. The place is honestly disgusting inside it's so hard to breathe. Last evening, a friend suggested we go there and sit on the patio. I agreed because I wouldn't have to go inside. We called ahead and let them know that about 11 of us would be there. What a mistake. It was literally the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Jess W. was also a part of my party and she sums the evening up much better than I can in her review. I only want to say that you should run very very far away from this place. My friends and I were calm and understanding with our incompetent waiter and lack of correct food and drinks for the first 2.5 hours we were there. When our waiter went off the deep end there should have been a manager there to sort everything out. I am appalled by the way we were treated and more appalled that this restaurant somehow manages to stay open. They will never have my business again. Nor any of my friends. And finally, once again, it's smoking. So even if you think I'm just a disgruntled person ranting, and even if the food and service were fair/good (they were both so so so so bad) I would tell any nonsmoker to avoid.
