Bidrage med feedbackThis is a cafeteria versus a sit-down restaurant. Nothing wrong with this concept, but it was a surprise on arrival. Food was good but nothing special.....chicken, creamed corn, beets, mashed potatoes with gravy......many other choices. Prices were fair for what what was served. Do not know how it compares with other restaurants in the area.....might be one of the best. Would return when in the area unless there was a place that had a menu that really attracted us, such as pizza or BBQ, depending on our mood, desires, at the time.
I tried this place on a hunch while looking for a lunch spot. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and told they provided line service and to proceed forward. The servers on the food line were friendly and informative. The food was excellent.....proper portions prepared and seasoned well. The cost was very reasonable considering the quality. The place was exceptionally clean. Overall it was a great experience. I will be back any time I'm in the are.
We were traveling on I-75 and wanted real food for lunch instead of fast food or chains. Took a chance on this one based on reviews, and it was a great find! We had baked chicken, meat loaf, corn, squash casserole, green beans, lima beans, and pecan pie, but there were many more options. Friendly staff (heated our pie and added ice cream! and good prices. We will stop by any time we are in the area, and recommend you do the same!
With spouse, had the tips, baked chicken, okra, green beans, mashed potatoes, sweet potato. All good. And a good bargain. Had cocnut pie for dessert yummy.
Not sure where so many of the reviews for this place came from. It’s a homey place for a glorified cafeteria, but I felt way overpriced for the amount served. The food is well done, true, but not all of it was ‘homemade,’ if you know what I mean. The salad bar was relatively paltry in my opinion, with a small bowl called a medium salad, at $4.75 each. We both had beef tips in gravy, which was done well, and green beans, and a potato side. These were well-seasoned and tasty, but they were not overly large portions. One of us got lima beans (because she is a sick person unconcerned with the slimy texture of barely edible foods) which she declared heavenly. Meal prices were 1 Meat/2 sides $7.05, 1 Meat/3 sides $8.90. Somehow, I got charged for another side at $1.89 – why didn’t I just get the 3-side price? – but I didn’t catch it until later, so bad on me. We didn’t try any of the pies, but everyone in there was getting slices with their meal, or to go, so I suspect they are special. All said, the food seems to be pretty good, but you don’t get huge portions, and they seem overpriced to me. Service is really limited to how friendy the folks are on the chow line, and the servers that address issues and bus tables after you’re done, so I’m not sure how folks have pumped up the service scores. There really isn’t any. I’m sure this place has its fans for the food quality, but overall, I was not as impressed.
