Burger Express - Peoria County

If I could give this establishment zero stars I would because they do not deserve any. It does not really matter how good or bad their food is because if you frequent this restaurant you are supporting two of the rudest, most unbelievably negative people you have ever met. Burger Express employs mostly young kids at the moment and the two owners, a couple, treat their young employees like absolute garbage, even going so far as yelling at them in front of customers, to the point that it is audible in the dining room and makes for a very uncomfortable situation. Your heart just breaks for the kids who have to experience working there every day and being completely demolished by their unkind and uncalled for behavior. How I have described their behavior is extremely generous, too. Sure, get your burger here if you're in a pinch, but if I were you I'd spend my money on a place that isn't abusive towards their employees. So sad.

Even though I live in Chillicothe, I still make the 10 minute drive south on RT 29 to Mossville to get a quick yummy bite at Burger Express. Their food is made fresh to order, and is a notch above your typical fast food fare. The burgers are hot, fresh and tasty, and the prices are very reasonable. They also have great chicken sandwiches, a deli club and deli express sandwich, as well as hot dogs, including a bacon-wrapped dog. I have had the triple cheese burger, the deli express, and for your true burger-philes, the Quint, with five, yes five beef patties !!!!! , and four slices of cheese. Juicy and delicious! The fries are good, above average and tasty. They also have soft serve ice cream, sundaes, waffle cone, and Spinners, their take on a milk shake. If you are in the area, driving between Peoria and Chillicothe, or driving through on your commute to or from CAT, and you're hankering for something to quell your hunger pangs, check them out!

Inexpensive, hot food quick. Nothing wrong with the burger fries. Simple menu done well. Busy on a Friday for lunch which is a good sign.

Will not be back. The Sweet Chicken sandwich's secret sauce is grape jam. Grape jam on chicken??? No public restrooms either.
