Babaloo Lounge - Palm Desert

We lived in miami 32 years and miss Cuban food. we are always looking for Cuban restaurants wherever we travel. this is as good as the best in little havana. the lechon asado and the maduros were perfect. I wish we had another chance to eat this trip there. but next time we visit the opposite we will be back without doubt. maybe they will add vaca frita, my favourite menu!

I had really hoped that this would be the Cuban Peruvian experience of the valley needs. Unfortunately it wasn't. the selection of food was so,so and did not reflect the variety of food available in these regions. the drinks we fine but not acceptable with $15. there are so many important compromises that these two countries have and I regret that none were present. service was good by chris. its support team still needs training. I know that restaurants are not under the weapon to get personal. but I must be fair with the other points of my review.

The piano player was wonderful, and the food was delicious.

Food was average. Very noisy environment with two music acts. Service was terrible, but to be fair to the servers, management did not have adequate staff.

I was thoroughly disappointed with the New Years Eve dinner. Surprise #1: it was not Cuban nor Peruvian dinner. That’s why we chose to go there. I have a screenshot of their events page from which I got the info about what they were serving. (See photo below)Surprise #2: each course that was served from Lobster Bisque to Oyster Rockefeller to Steak to Salad was laden with salt. We had to send the steaks back. Surprise #3: no price was disclosed on the menu. At $140/plate it was important detail not to be included. One of us who was not having the steak finished their meal before ours arrived with sauce on side so that it wouldn’t be salty So it didn’t feel festive. The serving was poor, cutlery was thrown on the table. It was overall a bad experience. The saving grace was the band they were great but we had lost all the charm to stay on to dance after the many disappointments. Advertising for Cuban and Peruvian dishes and getting Steak and Oysters was a huge let down. They lied.
