Bidrage med feedbackPleas note Feathers and Docks restaurant has closed and from 1 March a brand new restaurant (cafe) has opened. The new cafe is a very professionally run establishment. The new business is called Mr Bengel run at this location (bigger I think), fully refurbished, new owner and staff, and popular.
Used to be a local in Palm Beach and decided to head back to Feather and Docks during a recent visit home on the Gold Coast. We tried visiting this place twice in December, both times with no success. First time was on a Saturday at 9.30am with family for brunch. We were told that we could only order coffee as they had "sold out of food." We left and went across the road to Wildernis. We met up with different friends the next day (this time around 8.30am) and tried Feather and Docks again for breakfast. This time, we were turned away completely as they were closing due to running out of food. Again, we walked across the road to Wildernis where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast for the second time in two days. I used to love going to this place before the expansion but unfortunately, with two consecutive strikes out, I'd rather go elsewhere in Palm Beach where I know I'll be able to be served.
Was there this morning with family after considering a number of options in the local area. The thing that convinced us was their website menu which unfortunately differed from their onsite menu. They say you eat with your eyes and the pictures on both the website and even this site suggested nicely presented plentiful meals. The reality was a big big disappointment. We, as a family, eat out often for the reason you want to experience something nice and different. We have never been here before I will never return. I ordered the eggs Benedict and if you look at the pictures it looks great. Mine not so. It says two poached eggs but mine were boiled. I thought this might have been a timing issue with the other meals ordered at the table. Of the four meals ordered all with poached eggs, every one of them was hard. Not just a little. A lot. The hollandaise must have been very special as I got about a tablespoon full. My wife ordered the smashed avocado and it was seriously pedestrian. I can say with complete confidence I am a dud cook and am comfortable in saying I have prepared better meals than what we were served. For $62 I expected a lot more. Maybe we were paying for the trendy spartan surrounds. I prefer decent food. Now bear in mind this is a subjective review of my experience and it pains me to write this but for what it is worth I will never return. There are a number of better alternatives within a short walk.
Enjoyed a coffee on the recommendation of the bike shop next door Coffee was well textured, good taste and hot, not lukewarm which seems common in many shops Water was self serve Didn't have time to eat but menu read well
Really nice vibe and iced coffees were awesome today. Would be awesome if they were served with a shot of simple syrup like in Indonesia so the sugar is already in solution before mixed. :)
