Mother's Cantina Philadelphia

This restaurant is quite accommodating for vegans, but you do need to request vegan options. I ordered a veganized combination plate with mushroom tacos, a spinach enchilada, rice and beans, all topped with vegan cheese. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. It's a great dining option in Ocean City, Maryland, especially considering the limited choices for vegans in the area.

My husband and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at the bar. I ordered the mother's guacamole without cheese, as I'm not a fan of vegan cheese. My husband requested a combo platter with the taco on a separate plate for me (as he eats meat). The staff happily accommodated our request. I found the mushroom taco to be much tastier after adding some guac and salsa to it. The salsa was particularly delicious. The only letdown was the fresh-cut fries, which seemed to be frozen and not made in-house. If you're particular about your fries, I recommend skipping them.

Vegan friendly. For an upcharge, you can add vegan cheese to any dish. The mushroom tacos were amazing. I don 't usually like portabella meals because they tend to feel like an afterthought oops, we need a vegetarian dish... just give them this mushroom! but Mother 's Cantina 's mushroom tacos were anything but an afterthought! The margaritas were enormous and cheap. The house chips and salsa were also delicious. Highly recommended.

Server was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Mother's Guacamole with vegan cheese (additional $3) it came with chips and salsa. Tasted good but there was barely any cheese and was definitely not worth the extra 3 bucks (just ask to omit the cheese) I ordered the chimachanga with vegan chesse and it was served with cheese inside as well as on the black beans served on the side. Everything was well seasoned and tasted great. Would visit again!

We love Mother’s! It is a very expensive charge adding vegan cheese! Chef came out and greeted us and made sure we were set with the vegan options. Lots of things on menu can either be made vegan. Our kids got vegan quesadillas with Teese Vegan cheese!
