Le Canon - Nice

To set the scene, we stood at the door for minutes, waited for a drink for minutes, had starter and mains and the whole palaver took hours. The food is decent for the area of Nice its in, it does...smack of tourism at all really. The portions themselves are small and overpriced. guy front of house was in charge of (we estimate) about tables. The food has saved this review from Needless to say not a recommendation or a return from us.

In such a touristy place this restaurant really stands out as an original offering of carefully thought out, locally sourced region inspired food. Taking ideas from different mediterranean regional traditions and using seasonal ingredients the food is just great and the welcome is very friendly....Also a great choice of wines and really personalised recommendations. Not cheap and not fast but a really great restaurant experience.

The Insidr Paris team highly recommended this hidden local gem, so I didn't mind having to wait 30 min for a lunch table.

Excellent. Solid 4 I went there twice two weeks ago Service handled by one person, pleasant.

We made a reservation for a Friday night at 21:30 - make sure you do the same (reserve a table). Excellent and friendly service - great food. And the wine :-) We asked for the owner's (Sebastien) suggestion on both white and red whereafter he brought three bottles of each to our table and gave a thorough and colourful explanation of each. All the wines were bio-wines - what a treat - difficult to chose. We will come back soon.
