Smiley's Diner - Newark

I had 3 eggs scrambled, ham, two bacon and one sausage link with rye toast and coffee. It was 10.99 for meal plus price of coffe and tip. Waitress was friendly seated me quick. The service was attentive with refills. Food wait was 7 minutes. Meals was large well prepared and hot. I had been fasting so this was a meal that I only eat once or twice a year. I had a triple order of pork because I rarely have it They have healthy options as well.

People were friendly, accommodating. Food was delicious, especially considering we ordered a variety; breakfast, dinner, subs. Only problem was, my $20 crab cake dinner had none of the sides with it. When I called to let them know in case they found them and to ask about running back to get them, the hostess said thanks honey and hung up.. we will try them again, I'll just check carefully. Worth a try tho for sure

Smiley's Dinner was surprisingly nice. We stopped there for breakfast. The food was served hot and was delicious. I had the short stack french toast which was just the right size. The scrambled eggs were fluffy. The crisp bacon was delicious. This was more like a family home cooked meal than a meal cooked at a franchise restaurant. I loved it. Did I mention the servers? They were great. If you were seated at your table and had not received your drinks from your server. No problem. Another server would come by and ask if your drink order was place. If you answered no, they would bring your drinks for you. The servers really worked together as a team to serve you. The restaurant was well lit, cozy and clean.

Seemed liked a nice dinner and hours are convenient 24/7. No idea what the food is like, must be good they had a large party and lots of Togo orders. I waited half an hour to get served and finally left, I have two stars for service because the guy who seated me said sorry as I left, it interrupted his conversation at the bar with another employee so that was at least some form of acknowledgement. I'll take my business elsewhere seems they have enough they can literally watch customers walk out the door.

Nice salad and bread came with it, soo much food for a good price. It taste delicious.I already started eating a good portion of the eggplant Parmesan, so some of it’s missing in the photo.
