Soulshine Tavern Kitchen - New Albany

We had such a great time getting together at Soulshine! Half our guest were late and then none of us were in any hurry to leave. Our server was patient and kept us content with drinks and food the whole evening. They easily adapted a meal for my vegetarian pallet and I suggest not skipping dessert! Yummy all around I can't wait to go back next time I am in New Albany.

We arrived during happy hour, so we got a chance to sample many of their specials during this time. The deceleration eggs had a bite to them. The bits of bacon on top were the highlight. The pretzel bites were quite standard and the sauces added a welcome zing to the otherwise plain bits of pretzel. The boneless wings were crisp and tender with a delicious sauce. The standout for me was the slider. The pimento cheese was epic. A complement the delicious thin Butcher and Grocer patty of beef deserved. The chips on the side were quite salty but our water glasses remained topped off to compensate. The chicken mac and cheese was really two dishes. There was a crispy chicken breast with blue cheese and there was a classic Mac and cheese. Apart they were two filling and stellar entrees. Combining them was odd.

We finally stopped by. In short we had an excellent server with boatloads of personality (from Morocco). The atmosphere was nice and the food was quite good. We decided to try a couple things (wife and I) and split them. They graciously split them in the kitchen for us. We recommend the hot honey chicken for sure. Good place. We'll go back.

I picked up a take home order for our Sweetest Day dinner tonight and was shocked as the food we were given. I ordered the Cauliflower Cheddar soup and Wedge Salad. As you can see, the lettuce is brown, old and slimy. The soup (which I had to heat up in a bowl from home) was just a greasy mush. Our deviled eggs had clearly had been sitting for what seemed like all day. The filling was hard and crusted over. I had to throw out the appetizer and my whole meal, for fear of getting sick. My fiancé ordered the walleye entree. It was mediocre. The green beans were the best item of the whole order. Most of our food was inedible. I would really like a refund.

Great last minute date night when my husband's flight got canceled til morning. Couple of Coronas. Couple of glasses of Malbec. Chicken wings and devil eggs. We were all set! Staff was fantastic and very attentive. Great food. Great experience as always. We will be back again!
