Alpenhof Murnau

We were entertained here by some friends so weren 't paying but enjoyed the hotel restaurant and had some great wine (Italian). A sneak peek at the wine-list showed a huge selection at equally huge prices. Food was very competently prepared but was pretty expensive compared...to the average eatery. Aiming for something on the chaper side of things so as not to overburden our friends, I chose the (predictable) schnitzel, which proved to be the best I 've had in Germany: not heavy, and with a very light and crisp batter. Really very nice indeed. My colleagues meals were also well prepared if a bit pricy. In teh UK (where we 're from), these prices would be hitting Michelin one-star places, so not good value for money but definitely good food, well prepared.

Service was very good. Poor restaurant had to deal with business dinner of 15 where everyone arrived at different times. They accommodated graciously and efficiently. Food was flavorful and presented beautifully. I very much enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back here again

Very nice top-quality locally sourced food, exceptional wine list, excellent service in pleasant surroundings, highly recommended. Not cheap, but appropriately priced for the quality.

We stayed at the hotel again and chose to eat in this time. The menu was good and filled with local dishes. We were also impressed with the wine list. Service was initially attentive and the food was cooked and presented to a very high...standard. The restaurant was very busy but the terrace was an excellent place to sit and eat dinner. The only negative aspect of the meal was that we had to wait an hour between main course and dessert and the waiter seemed to have forgotten us. However it did not spoil the evening as the weather was great and we happy to sit and on the terrace.

They have a good menu, and the restaurant can get busy. its pet friendly also. service can be improved for a restaurant of this standard.
