This is a small local restaurant where you can taste traditional Bavarian food. Food is hearty and nothing fancy. Big portion and all under or around €15. Breads are served warm although it's not the best kind but better than cold dry bread. Desserts were...rather disappointing.
We loved the old Ähndl and love the new one even more. We went for the re-opening and I tried 5 different traditional dishes: milt sausage, sour lung with bread dumpling, ox cheeks, veal face in two versions. All classic Bavarian dishes cooked by the...cook who for a long time had a star in the guide Michelin? The prices are very low, the beer is great and the schnaps exceptional. Even ou American friend was in love with everything he tried. The view from the beergarden is one of exceptional beauty. One of my three favourite places in Bavaria.
Nice location and stop off point after a long walk but we found this place to not be very welcoming to foreigners. We speak no German but it isnt hard to point out we want a beer and say please and thankyou in German but...the staff took an instant dislike to us and ignored us with no attempt to try. After the hospitality we had received elsewhere in Bavaria this was a disappointment. Visited October 2014
Fantastic location for all big city people in the washing mode. under the linden- next to the chapel with playground for children, beer garden or in the rustic stüberl. very nice and friendly service, the kitchen traditionally with modern one-stroke. even if the weather did not play along - it was a wonderful Sunday lunch table. especially well, the crimped foam soup has tasted with smokers. the ochs cheeks anyway. the jelly duet also very good. there is really a boar sauce that deserves their names! the children had to go to the sauce-speaker and no deeper teller went back half-empty. which is not always the case. to the dessert- top-knödel with a plucky and top-strudel with vanilla sauce- everything very good and in a relaxed atmosphere. beautiful if it wasn't so far for us we would return every weekend in the umndl
