Las Frailas - Murcia

Initially popped in for a quick drink and a nosey!! What a surprise, nice selection of tapas, and a chiller display with fresh fish,crustaceans and a variety of meats. We found the owner to be very attentive. The dining area was well laid out linen clothes and napkins and sparkling wine glasses. We decided to book for Sunday lunch time. There were four of us and we took recommendation from the waitress for four tapas starters all were very tasty and very large portions in hindsight we'd have been better off sharing two. For mains there was one fillet steak, grilled seabass and two dorada in salt all were exceptional accompanied by mixed veg and a few chips. Quite a few beers, bottle of white rioja, water and a couple of vodka tonics two desserts and coffees just under 200 euros so not a cheap eat but for quality like this you don't expect it to come cheap.The owner was heavily involved in the kitchen and later visited every table and spoke to all his patrons. There were four Spanish families and a couple of other Brits. This will become a very popular restaurant and a lunch time tapas stop off when word spreads. Like other reviews a Menu de Dia would enhance its appeal.

Superb Spanish restaurant. Fantastic ambience and great food. Personally I felt that it was a tad expensive for lunch as there was only A la carte available. Such a pity. If they offered a menu del dia, they would be packed every day.

We went on the recommendation of a friend and loved it.. we were early for lunch by Spanish standards, but a charming host offered us a drink with olives and nuts and we had a chance to view the tapas on offer an encouraging beginning..we both chose clams to start with, but both done differently. One with garlic and one with big prawns in a more soup like substance. Before these arrived, an offering of toasts with garlic (alioli) and ham. We loved the bowl of clams which are almost a meal in themselves and at 10€ worth it. Then one of us had sole (lenguado) 16€ and the other turbot 14€. We could not manage a dessert, but had an espresso and know that we will return.
