Bidrage med feedback1 August 2019 , table for 5 lunchtime . Poor quality food on the menu of the day . Been twice before , wont be going again . Served by 5 different staff . No professionalism. Too expensive poor food .
We had a nice lunch break, good food, great view and ok service. eating is excellent and at 30€ appropriate for the standard of food. the dining room itself has a fantastic view over the valley towards bergerac, and the tables are positioned to make...the best of it. the service was ok, not very smiley and if I'm honest, I felt a little snucky. Anyway, I would recommend it for a nice relaxing lunch.
I wrote a review soon after this opened and I wasn 't impressed, but what a change, we have been here twice either side of Christmas. It is a bistrot but the food quality was really excellent our last two visits and at least two of...our party are quite picky eaters but even they ate everything up and we were all delighted and will be back very soon. They have improved the decor, a much more interesting selection of food. There is a 'menu du jour ' around 14€, and a carte for 28€, we chose the carte, not that there wasn 't anything wrong with the menu du jour, I had a superb soup with a poached egg and sliced truffles, a 'house ' burger with real chip and an excellent chocolate desert. It took a while for us to 'give it another try ' as it is very close to where we life and we were glad we did. PS the view is stunning
We booked on line for 13.15 and arrived at EXACTLY that time. The greeter tried to imply that we had to hurry to the table. We found that annoying The view is spectacular probably better than next door Tour de Vents The food was...OK but not in the same league. My wife found her beefburger too dry, my duck was OK. The local wine was from Verdots and good and well priced The inside of the restaurant was quite crowded but we didn’t get a great ambience Overall the experience was a little disappointing. This seems to be a place designed for a high volume with no great attention to the quality
I had a friend visiting from the United States who is in the planning stages of bringing tour groups to France. I had suggested we go to Bistrot de Malfourat mainly because of the view but I recalled having lunch there in 2018 and the...food being quite good. Not so this time. We had the menu du jour. The first course was a salmon and trout tartare and a salmon mousse. The latter was not bad, but the salmon/trout combo was not fresh and very fishy and unpleasant. I have eaten enough nigiri in my life to know when fish is fresh. This was not. The second course was a breaded filet of veal served on a bed of macaroni. The veal was tough and very dry. (I guess the kitchen staff aren't aware that a piece of veal like this should be pounded to tenderize it before breading and frying. The macaroni was nothing special and did nothing to enhance the veal. A sauce of some kind might have helped. The dessert was a bit better, some lemon mousse, lemon meringue with a puddle of lemon sauce and broken cookies. I guess that's the modern style of plating. It tasted alright but like the rest of the meal, not all that great and the plating didn't do anything to make it look appetizing. For a place that is connected to a Michelin star restaurant, this lunch experience seemed to indicate that the kitchen doesn't really care much about what is served in the bistrot. I guess all of the care goes into the Michelin star restaurant. This experience was a huge disappointment, not only to me but especially to my friend who loved the view but because of the poor quality of the meal decided to look elsewhere for a place to take her guests. The wine was very nice, from Clos des Verdots nearby. The service was fine but it took a long time to get the bill and the server had to be reminded to bring it to us. I don't like to write a negative review, but when one travels to a place expecting to have a memorable meal the memory should be a good one, not something that puts one off of the restaurant.
