Casinha São João - Porto

We had diner at 2 occasions in Casinha Sao Joao. The first time was purely by coincidence... it was raining and we took the first restaurant coming of the bridge. Definitely a good choice ! Excellent tapas (we order 4 for 2 persons and were more thanks satisfied) and good wine. It can only sit 20 or so persons but definitely worth a visit. Good local cuisine at reasonable prices.

They seemed to take care of their tapas. It was quality food and reasonably prized. Interior was, as the food presentation, a bit rustic. It all made for a good authentic feeling. Staff was very attentive, yet laidback. Wine suggestion was to our liking and overall we had a good experience.

Great tapas, large portions, well cooked. We couldn't eat everthing we ordered. Wine good and reasonable at €10 for a red Douro. Book in advance if you want to eat as restaurant is tiny inside, about 28 covers max. Kitchen is tiny but the food excellent. Sit outside if it's warm and watch the river. The pork and chestnuts is great according to my meat eating husband and there are good vege options too. I love the mushroom bruschetta.

Verry charming portuges restaurant with good starter food for aperitiv and verry good wine. ask for the housewine. the sangria was tasty. if its nice and sunny, then sit outside and look at the people who walk by. its like on a movie, the service guy Fernando was verry open to talk and friendly.

Just can’t believe the high ratings for this place, four of us had tapas and we enjoyed the patas bravas and pedron peppers, but then was starting to eat the pork but had to return it at it as the bottom pieces were raw and then we started on the beef strips which smelt off and just tasted disgusting, the waiter said there was nothing wrong with them but the four of us all said the same thing. We could only imagine that they had either been cooked in old oil or in oil that had been used previously to cook something fishy. very unpleasant. Wouldn’t recommend
