We were from out of town and we loved Medford! The Regency Grill was great and the hotel we stayed at was one of the best and with the best price!!Food: 5/5
Service was prompt and the food was out quickly. The food was okay, I asked for the burger medium well and imo it was cooked a little too well, no pink at all. The onion rings on the burger tasted kinda stale and old. The sweet potato fries were a good sized portion and they were delicious. I had them with the honey mustard. The atmosphere is very similar to a Sharis or a Dennys, but the prices are a smidge more expensive. My (1 person) meal ran me 22$ tip (5$ for the good service) so almost 30$. The main item ordered wasn't cooked as expected and really didn't taste as expected, a little too chewy/crunchy and not enough softness or melt in your mouth flavor you'd expect from a prime rib.The sauce on the burger and the cheese was good, the burger itself was juicy, just not soft, it was a weird combination of rubberiness and juicyness but still somehow lacked a tender flavor, just a little overcooked for my taste. I'd probably eat here again if I could justify the prices, but it's more than likely I'll just eat somewhere else for the remainder of my stay at the hotel, with the exception of breakfast before work. However with that having been said, I wouldn't go out of my way just to travel to this restaurant for a meal, it really is no better nor worse than a sharis, dennys, or black bear diner for that matter. Run of the mill, a tad overpriced, nothing noteworthy about the food, however the quick service was refreshing to say the least, and for that alone, I give you 3 stars.
In the past we would eat here everyday for lunch. 20 years ago it was great! About 5 years ago a new manager took over and ran it into the ground, all the staff left. It has since turned into a restaurant for the people that are staying at the motel. Over priced and not for the locals. They used to have a great Mother's Day brunch. So I went in last week and had a difficult time getting reservations. The two women helping me were complaining about how difficult the system was to take reservations in their paper ledger. And I had to wait for a bit while the chef came out to talk to the one gal that actually knew what was going on, because the computer that took room service orders, was not working right. It sounded like that is an everyday occurrence. After the chef cussed and complained about it he walked off. And I finally got my reservation. We showed up on time and we were seated in the wrong room than what I reserved but we rolled with it. The service was minimal and the buffet was seriously lacking compared to years past. For $40 each it was not any better than the Tin Tin buffet in the shopping center a mile away. I would say its glory days are years in the past and it's alive only because it's part of the motel. It's off the list even for the yearly Mother's day brunch. Definitely not for lunch or dinner out.
