The Black Bull Inn - Mansfield

Food has gone down hill in the couple months since we last visited. Booked a table for 530pm. Ordered mains which were a bit disappointing but we ate them. At 620pm went to order desert only to be told they had stopped serving. At 620pm!!!! Absolute joke. Nowhere online, at the pub or by any of the staff does it say food stops being served at what we assume is 6pm. Why book people in at 530pm to eat when you apparently don't provide full service time. We left then and there. Wrote a letter of complaint because its out of order that no one told us. Won't be returning. There's most certainly better food at better pubs and frankly better service in terms of communication.

I walked in and was elegantly greeted by a dashing young man who was very friendly along with the rest of the staff I spoke to during my most enjoyable visit. Me and my husband were having food and we both had the classic chicken burgers. We only waited for about 15 minutes before a very friendly lady brought us our delicious meals. The food was divine and I enjoyed it so much I was abit cheeky and treated myself and my husband to a pudding. We both had chocolate orange sponges and might I say it was the best desert I’ve had for a very long time. As a vegan I found the toilet facilities were very modern and clean and was a most joyous experience. I will be back again very soon for what I hope to be a very uplifting experience just like the one I’ve had today.

My partner organised a surprise meal here. These guys went above and beyond made my day. Thankyou to all the staff, the chef and the amazing regulars youve got there! Will be returning and recommending to everyone!!

We have never had a bad meal when visiting. We came today for Sunday Lunch and have got to praise Lauren, the dinner was absolutely delicious definitely worth the money! Would 100% recommend and will be back again soon.

Food is brilliant, perfectly cooked and came out within a timely manner. We have visited on a couple of occasions recently and enjoyed it both times! The world cup had a brilliant atmosphere . All staff attentive and friendly. Nothings to much trouble. Nice spaces for private parties/meals with a minimal deposit to pay. Would definately recommend. Just needs somewhere for the kids to play. (my daughter loved the toy box at the private party however) EDIT!! THERE'S A CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA HIDDEN OUT THE BACK! And a little summer garden area! We missed it first time we visited. The food was just as delicious second time round too!
