Waders - Macroom

During a day trip from Chicago to Milwaukee, we decided to have dinner at Waders. Our group of 10 ordered a variety of dishes from the dinner menu. Unfortunately, we all agreed that this was one of the worst restaurants we have ever tried! Personally, I ordered a shaved beef dish, but when it arrived, it looked like a mess of leftovers on a plate. The dish was mushy, flavorless, and topped with a sour sauce that made me feel sick. After only a few bites, I couldn't stomach it anymore and left it uneaten. We tried the steak night deal and it was an incredible value! We stayed at the hotel and enjoyed a delicious dinner on the first night. The steak was cooked perfectly and the Guinness was also great. The large fire added a cozy touch to the atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and gave us recommendations on places to visit in the area. There were some locals at the bar, but it quieted down early in the evening, which was a bit disappointing. Some background music would have been a nice addition.

The only positive aspect of this hotel is the bar. The open fire on a chilly January evening adds a nice touch, and the blonde girl working behind the bar was very helpful. The drinks are reasonably priced, and although I arrived too late for food, the menu looked decent. It’s disappointing that the rest of the hotel is in disarray, as with proper management it could be a great place.

Waders was always quiet in the evening. Nice for a drink and simple food. Traditional Irish food recommended there. Fish pie and beef with mash good.

Could not fault the meal we received in Waders. On route home from Cork on a late Monday evening expectations of anywhere were low. Food was so fresh and tasty and you definitely will not leave hungry...would highly recommend!!!
